Qualification overview Graduates

04 Postgraduate Diploma in Veterinary Medicine Qualification overview Graduates must have a degree in either Veterinary Science or Medicine and be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS). Any graduate who is not a member of the RCVS will require approval from CQ in order to undertake the diploma and CQ will judge each application on an individual basis. Supervised experience must be undertaken in a professional veterinary practice. Veterinary practices must be approved by CQ before being able to deliver the diploma. Full details of this process are available from CQ. Skills-based learning outcomes are integrated within the application of knowledge and understanding, via the achievement of Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). This requires the application of specific knowledge, skills and behaviours within clinical practice. Practical learning is supported by skills-teaching within the programme and through teaching and supervised experience in a clinical practice. Veterinary practices are therefore required to have in place suitable arrangements for the teaching of clinical skills associated with veterinary work. Also integral to the diploma is guided learning, which takes place under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training. It could include classroom-based learning, work-based learning and live webinars.
